Screen Printing Fundamentals for Corporate Apparel

The oldest apparel decoration process is still the sharpest for brand rollouts above 100 units. Here's how to brief it properly.

Screen Printing Fundamentals

Screen printing pushes ink through a mesh stencil onto a garment, one flat colour at a time. It is the go-to process for medium-to-large uniform runs, event tees and merchandise drops.

Why brands still choose screen - Vivid, opaque coverage on dark fabric. - Ink bonded into the weave — soft hand, high wash-life. - Cost drops sharply after 100 units.

Where it struggles - Photographs and heavy gradients — use DTF or sublimation instead. - Very small runs (setup cost per screen). - Fabric with heavy texture (waffle, terry) — mesh detail can bleed.

How to brief the studio 1. Send vector artwork (.ai, .svg, .pdf) with fonts outlined. 2. Confirm the Pantone reference for every colour in the design. 3. Tell us the garment colour — it changes ink formulation (a white underbase is often needed on dark). 4. Confirm print placement in millimetres from a fixed reference (shoulder seam or hem).

We supply a strike-off (a printed sample on the exact garment) before committing to the full run.
