Farmhouse cheeses, biltong, droëwors and preserved figs on one board — the easiest, most generous way to open a bottle.
Ingredients
- 200g mature farmhouse cheddar
- 150g chevin or soft goat cheese
- 150g blue cheese
- 150g sliced biltong
- 100g droewors
- Preserved figs or fig preserve
- Bunch of black grapes
- Handful of pecans and almonds
- Water biscuits and seed crackers
- Honey and wholegrain mustard
Method
- 1
Take the cheeses out of the fridge 30 minutes before serving so they come to room temperature.
- 2
Place the cheeses at spaced points on a large wooden board, each with its own knife.
- 3
Fold and pile the biltong and droewors between the cheeses.
- 4
Fill the gaps with grapes, figs, nuts and small bowls of honey and mustard.
- 5
Fan crackers around the edges and serve straight away with the bottle already open.
Kwai Lekr Wine
🍷 What Should I Pour?
Salty biltong and creamy cheese need acidity and bubbles — Chenin Blanc and MCC cut right through, while Pinotage handles the blue.
Everything you need for SA Cheese & Charcuterie Board is in the ingredients above. Add a bottle to the table from a Kwai Lekr estate.
