Our story
Drayman's Brewery & Distillery is one of South Africa's oldest continuously running craft breweries, founded in 1997 by Moritz Kallmeyer and today run by the Kallmeyer family from their own property in Silverton, Pretoria. What began as a one-man passion for German brewing tradition has grown into a full brewery and distillery producing award-winning ales and wheat beers, handcrafted whiskies and small-batch mampoer. Every batch is brewed and distilled on site, in small volumes, with the same insistence on real ingredients and traditional method that defined the very first Drayman's brew. Alongside the beer range you will find the Protea Smoked Whisky, the Highveld Single Malt, Hakkiesdraad Mampoer and the Honigjäger honey liqueur — a genuinely South African take on old-world craft.
